Raids in 100 areas in Delhi under operation ‘Kavach’

New Delhi, May 13: The Delhi Police appeared in action mode on Friday night against drug peddlers. Around 80 teams of the Crime Branch of Delhi Police, along with the local police, conducted raids in around 100 areas of the capital.

Delhi Police is continuously working on the instructions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to make India drug free.

The Anti-Narcotics Task Force of Crime Branch arrested 31 drug peddlers during the raid. At the same time, 12 people involved in liquor smuggling were arrested. 957 grams of heroin, 57.88 kg of ganja and illicit liquor worth more than one crore have been recovered from them. The police took this action under Operation ‘Kavach’.

Special Commissioner of Crime Branch Ravindra Singh Yadav said on Saturday that on the orders of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force was formed across the country. The task force is engaged in realizing the dream of a drug-free India of the Prime Minister and the Home Minister. Its work is going on in Delhi under the guidance of Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena and Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora.

In this series, on Friday night, the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) raided about 100 places in Delhi overnight by forming 80 teams along with the local police. Before the raid, the police gathered information from its information system. The raid took place after doing the homework completely.

In this sequence, 30 FIRs were registered and 31 drug peddlers were arrested. At the same time, a total of 12 people were arrested after registering six cases of liquor smuggling. A huge amount of liquor and drugs were recovered from them. Ravindra Yadav did not say that apart from local drug smugglers, Delhi Police is taking action against indigenous and foreign drug smugglers.

Yadav told that Delhi Police has arrested a total of 534 people in 412 drug-trafficking cases so far in the year 2023. Police recovered 35 kg of heroin, 15 kg of cocaine, 1500 kg of ganja, 230 kg of opium, 10 kg of charas and 20 kg of other drugs from them. Apart from this, hundreds of liquor smugglers have been arrested and thousands of liters of liquor have been recovered from them.
