Putin supports India’s claim on UNSC permanent membership

Moscow, 06 Oct (HS): Russian President Vladimir Putin has supported permanent membership of India in the United Nations Security Council. He alleged that the Western nations are trying to create a rift between India and Russia.

Putin said that a country like India should be granted permanent membership in the UNSC. It is continuously making progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In view of the global situation amendments in the UNSC are necessary. Countries like India, Brazil, and South Africa have the right to more representation.

Putin praised Modi?s leadership and called him an intelligent person. Under his leadership India is making fast progress, he added. The success of the G-20 summit in India was because of Modi?s leadership and vision. The diplomatic decisions were not allowed to be politicised.
