Post-Covid patients to be given free treatment, UP Govt issues order

Lucknow, 26 May: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced free treatment for post-Covid patients. The Government of Uttar Pradesh will bear the expenses of treating patients. On Wednesday, Principal Secretary Alok Kumar issued the Government Order (GO).

Meanwhile, a copy of the order has been sent to all medical colleges. The order states that patients after coming negative from Covid but battling from post-covid problems will get free treatment in case of being admitted to the general ward. The government will bear this expenditure.

The Chief Secretary informed that Covid negative patients have to stay in the hospital due to post Covid issues. In hospitals operated under the Medical Department, some services are available for non-Covid patients on payment basis. In such a situation, there was a curiosity by some medical institutes at the present time whether Covid negative patients should be paid in the event of being kept in the general ward.
