PM Modi inaugurates ‘Aadi Mahotsav’ showcasing tribal culture

New Delhi, 16 February: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated ‘Aadi Mahotsav’ at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in the capital as part of efforts to highlight tribal culture on the national stage.

Prime Minister Modi also paid floral tributes to tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda on the occasion. Earlier, he took stock of the exhibition at the venue. During this, union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjan Munda was also present with him.

Aadi Mahotsav is an event celebrating tribal culture, crafts, cuisine, commerce and traditional arts. It is an annual initiative of the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited (TRIFED) under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. This year it is being organized from 16 to 27 February at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi.

The program showcased the rich and diverse heritage of tribal communities across the country. For this, more than 200 stalls have been set up at the venue. About one thousand tribal artisans are participating in the festival.

International Year of Nutritious Cereals is being celebrated from the year 2023, with which handicrafts, handlooms, pottery, jewelery etc. are also attractions. Food produced by the tribal communities has been kept at the center of the festival.
