New Delhi, 17 January: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday flagged off eight trains connecting Kevadia (Gujarat) to various places in the country including the national capital Delhi and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.

Tourists can now go directly by rail to the world’s highest statue ‘Statue of Unity’.

Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated several other railway related projects in Gujarat by pressing the remote button.

On this occasion, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, Union Minister Harsh Vardhan and S. P. were present at the program organized at Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, Delhi. Jaishankar was present.

Express trains include Kevadia-Varanasi Mahamana Express (Weekly), Kevadia-Rewa Express (Weekly), Chennai-Kevadia Express (Weekly), Hazrat Nizamuddin-Kevadia Sampark Kranti Express (Fortnightly), Dadar-Kevadia Express (Daily), Ahmedabad-Kevadia JanShatabdi Express (daily) included. Modi also inaugurated the Dabhoi-Chandod broad gauge railway line, Chandod-Kevadia new broad gauge railway line, newly electrified Pratapnagar-Kevadia section and new buildings of the stations at Dabhoi-Chandod and Kevadiya by pressing the remote button. Kevadia station is the first railway station in India to get a green building certificate.
