PM Modi announces Indian astronauts for historic ‘Gaganyaan’ mission

Thiruvananthapuram, 27 February: Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a significant announcement on Tuesday at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) in Thumba, near the Kerala state capital.

He revealed the names of the four astronauts who have been selected for India’s first human space flight mission, Gaganyaan. The four astronauts are Prashanth Balakrishnan Nair, Angad Prathap, Ajit Krishnan, and Shubhanshu Shukla.

This marks a major milestone for India’s space program, as the country aims to send humans into space by 2022. The PM was at the VSSC to inaugurate three major technical facilities of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), highlighting India’s advancements in space technology and its commitment to achieving greater heights in space exploration.
