Parliament’s seal on the bill for the reduction of salaries, allowances of MPs

New Delhi, September 18: The Parliament approved the bill on the reduction of salaries and allowances of Members of Parliament (MPs) due to Corona pandemic.

Under the ‘Members of Parliament Salary, Allowances and Pensions (Amendment) Bill -2020’, a provision has been made to reduce the salary of MPs by 30 percent.

It was passed after discussion on this bill in the Upper House on Friday while the Lower House has already given it its approval.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi, while replying to the discussion on the Bill said that in this crisis of Corona pandemic, we should avoid any kind of politics.

He said that to deal with this pandemic, the government needed funds to raise the necessary resources. Parliament should also present its model by cutting its expenditure.
