Film ‘Param Sundari’ starring actor Siddharth Malhotra and actress Jhanvi Kapoor was released in theatres on August 29, but the initial response was not as expected. Despite this, the first day earnings of the film have come out. Even though it could not reach double digits, but with its opening, it has left behind many films of the year.
According to the report of Sacnilk, ‘Param Sundari’ has collected Rs 7.25 crore on the first day of release. Made in a budget of Rs 40 to 50 crore, this film had earned well from advance booking, so it was believed that it would easily cross Rs 10 crore on opening.
However, this did not happen and the film could not perform as expected. Despite this, ‘Param Sundari’ has had a better opening than the rest of the romantic films released this year except ‘Saiyaara’.
If we look at the previous releases, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tripti Dimri’s ‘Dhadak 2’ earned Rs 3.65 crore on the first day. On the other hand, Vikrant Massey’s ‘Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan’ could only collect Rs 35 lakh, while ‘Metro In Dinon’ had an opening of Rs 4 crore. Maddock Films’ ‘Bhool Chook Maaf’ collected Rs 7.20 crore on the first day. On the other hand, romantic drama ‘Mere Husband Ki Biwi’ opened with Rs 1.75 crore and Junaid Khan’s ‘Loveyaapa’ opened with Rs 1.25 crore.
The success of ‘Param Sundari’ is very important for both Siddharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, because their previous films in recent times did not make much impact at the box office. However, this time too, the audience gave a mixed response. Siddharth and Janhvi’s onscreen chemistry in the film did not impress many viewers. Especially Janhvi’s acting was criticized, while critics believe that there is no novelty in the story of the film. The story of the film revolves around Param (Siddharth) and Sundari (Janhvi).
