Delhi, 14 March: The Pakistani Hindu refugees living in Majnu-Ka-Tila have been summoned to visit the Delhi High Court on or after March 19 for the process of registering themselves as Indian citizens. Dharamveer Solanki, a refugee himself, stated that they were informed about this by a lawyer and the rest of the registration process will be explained after their visit to the court.

This comes after the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, which allows for the granting of citizenship to undocumented non-Muslim migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan who arrived in India before December 31, 2014.

Solanki also mentioned that they have been assured that they will not be relocated from Majnu-Ka-Tila and many families are hoping for development and benefits to be provided at their current camp. The government has announced that they will start granting Indian nationality to persecuted non-Muslim migrants from these countries with immediate effect, as per a Gazette notification.

This development brings hope for many Pakistani Hindu refugees who have been living in India for years, seeking a safe and secure future for themselves and their families.
