Over 2.5 lakh toilets built in Ayodhya, most of the villages declared ODF

Ayodhya, 19 April: The Open Defecation Free (ODF) Plus scheme being run under the Swachh Bharat Mission in Ayodhya is proving to be very beneficial. Under this ambitious scheme of the Central Government, 2,57,660 houses of Ayodhya district have been covered under the ODF scheme from the year 2012 to March 2024.

In order to make the rural areas clean and to prevent the villagers from defecating in the open, in the year 2012, the Central Government provided construction funds under the Swachh Toilet Scheme to the villagers under the Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin. Was made available. Although earlier this amount was quite less, but later the government increased the construction amount. The result of this was that if seen in Ayodhya district, from the year 2012 till now, 2,57,660 clean toilets have been constructed in the rural areas of Ayodhya district. Most of the villages in the district have been declared ODF.

An official of the Swachh Bharat Mission said that due to the implementation of the election code of conduct, the construction of clean toilets is currently at a standstill. After the new budget comes after the elections, clean toilets will be constructed in more houses.
