Noida, April 15: Amidst the violent protests by workers in the Gautam Buddha Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, district magistrate Medha Roopam held a meeting with outsourcing agencies/contractors of various industrial units in her office room late on Tuesday night with the aim of maintaining industrial peace.

The district magistrate said that in the meeting she said that contractors of outsourcing companies play a vital role in running the industry and providing employment to the people. Therefore, it is the responsibility of all outsourcing agencies/contractors to train their workers in such a way that discipline and peace is maintained. While instructing them, she said that all contractors should ensure 100% compliance with the government guidelines.

She also stated that if any agency or its employee/worker engages in violent behavior, the agency will be held responsible, and action will be taken to blacklist the agency and revoke its license.

Citing the minimum wages set by the state government, she stated that the minimum wages are set at โ‚น13,690 per month for unskilled workers, โ‚น15,059 for semi-skilled workers, and โ‚น16,868 for skilled workers. He urged all contractors to ensure full compliance with these wage standards and transfer full wages to workers’ bank accounts.

The DM emphasized that industry, workers, and employers are complementary. Smooth operation of industries secures employment opportunities, while the stability of employers ensures the future of workers. If industrial activities are affected, it adversely impacts all stakeholders as well as the overall development of the state.

She appealed to everyone to ignore any rumors or misleading information and to work with mutual cooperation and trust, maintaining industrial peace.

Roopam also assured that the state government is fully committed to protecting the interests of both workers and employers, and that the administration will act promptly to resolve any issues. Additional District Magistrate (Finance Revenue) Atul Kumar, DD Factory Brijesh, officials from related departments, and contractors from various industrial units were present at the meeting.

It is noteworthy that the violent workers’ protests in Noida, which have been ongoing for the past week, mostly involve employees hired by outsourcing companies. These workers have alleged the most harassment.
