Lucknow, November 26: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath administered the oath of office on the Preamble of the Constitution at a program held at Lok Bhavan on the occasion of Constitution Day.

Prior to this, guests offered flowers to the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar. A short film was also shown during the program. Chief Minister Yogi also honored the winners of various competitions.

On Wednesday, programs were organized at all the district headquarters of the state on the occasion of Constitution Day.

At the program held at Lok Bhavan, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the entire country has been organizing programs on Constitution Day every year on November 26 since 2015. The Constituent Assembly, formed after the elections, drafted the Constitution of India. The Constituent Assembly, chaired by Dr Rajendra Prasad, formed various committees. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar played a crucial role as the chairman of the drafting committee.

Yogi said that the drafting of the Constitution took 2 years, 11 months, and 18 days. The contributions of freedom fighters and experts in drafting the Constitution resulted in our Constitution being the world’s largest and uniting India’s diversity. When Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar’s committee presented the original copy of the Constitution to the Constituent Assembly, he stated that the Constitution is a document that will guide the country in unifying India’s diversity. “There cannot be rights without duties,” Yogi said.

CM Yogi further said today, every institution and panchayat has organized such events to recite the Preamble of the Constitution. On Constitution Day in 2015, PM Modi said that every one of us is a citizen of independent India, but the true value of freedom is being forgotten. Because we didn’t witness the struggle for independence with our own eyes. We didn’t endure brutal torture. As a result, everyone only talks about rights. Rights are secured when individuals cultivate the habit of fulfilling their duties. There can be no rights without duty. Where rights are sought without duty, there is no democracy; instead, dictators take control of the system and trample the fundamental rights of ordinary citizens.

Chief Minister said that after the Constitution was implemented, India respected it as supreme. Freedom fighters and symbols were honored, and efforts were made to make the fundamental sentiments on which the Indian Constitution was built a part of life. When a country progresses while respecting fundamental sentiments, no one can stop it from developing. At the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, Prime Minister Modi presented the concept of a developed India to the countrymen. To this end, Prime Minister Modi called upon every citizen to join the Panchpran for a developed and self-reliant India.

Referring to the Panchpran, the Chief Minister said that every person should be free from the mentality of slavery and should have respect for the uniformed soldiers of the army, paramilitary forces, and police forces.

Yogi said that if we disrespect the Constitution of India, it is an insult to Baba Saheb, the freedom fighters, the martyrs, and those poor people. This is an insult to the poor, who have gained democratic rights through the power of the Constitution, and to the half of the population, who were granted the right to vote in the first general election.

He said that every Indian should have a copy of the Constitution in their home. Its Preamble should be read in every family.

Chief Minister discussed the essence of the Preamble and its spirit, noting that the original Constitution of India includes images of Lord Rama traveling to Ayodhya in a ‘Pushpaka Vimana’ with Ma Sita and the teachings of the Gita by Lord Krishna during the Mahabharata War. Portraits of great figures, including Mahatma Buddha and Emperor Ashoka, also provide an opportunity to feel pride in India’s heritage. These aspects demonstrate that the Constitution strives to instill respect for heritage, yet we seem to be regressing to these principles even today.
