One-Time Settlement (OTS) scheme proving to be a profitable deal for power defaulters of UP

Lucknow, 28 November: The One Time Settlement Scheme (OTS), launched to provide exemption from late payment surcharge (surcharge) to the electricity consumers of Uttar Pradesh, has achieved immense success in the first phase itself.

Last two days are left to get 100 percent exemption in late payment surcharge. To avail maximum benefits under the scheme, the Minister has appealed to the electricity consumers to register as much as possible in the first phase of the scheme under the category of ‘Come early, get more benefits’.

He said that our electrical workers are helping people by setting up camps at various places even after their office hours. Still, if any consumer has any problem, then inform the local electricity office or toll free number 1912.

State’s Urban Development and Energy Minister AK Sharma gave a big gift to the electricity consumers of the state on Diwali in the form of One Time Solution Scheme (OTS), which seems to be a success historically.

In the first phase of the scheme, which is scheduled from November 8 to November 30, 2023, more than 12.28 lakh consumers have registered in the first 20 days, while a revenue of more than Rs 1,000 crore has also been collected during this period. More than 1 lakh consumers have registered every day to avail benefits under the scheme and a revenue of Rs 97.14 crore has also been generated from it.

The Energy Minister said that consumers should register as soon as possible to avail the benefits of the one-time settlement scheme. The sooner they register, the more benefits they will get. For the first time in the country, the amount of fine is being waived off in cases of electricity theft. For rebate on the amount of revenue assessment, 10 percent of it will have to be deposited.

If consumers do not deposit the installments within the stipulated period, a maximum of 03 defaults will be allowed in case of 12 installments and only one default in case of 06 installments. No consumer will be allowed to make 02 consecutive defaults. Private tube well consumers will get exemption in surcharge till 31st March and all other consumers till 31st October.

The Energy Minister said that the state government has brought a better rebate scheme keeping the interests of the consumers paramount. He has appealed to all the consumers to immediately take advantage of this scheme and deposit their dues.
