Kanpur, January 17: There has been a change in wind directions across Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday this led to some increase in the minimum temperature but on Wednesday northwest winds started blowing again. Due to this the temperature dropped and the winter chill continued throughout the day.
The Meteorological Department says that people do not see any respite from the shivering cold in the coming days.
Dr S. N. Pandey, meteorologist of Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agricultural Technology said on Wednesday that a cyclonic circulation over Bangladesh extends up to 3.1 km above the average level. Another cyclonic circulation is over an area between 1.5 and 3.1 km above mean sea level. A trough is extending from North Interior Karnataka to East Vidarbha at lower levels. Along with this, cold winds from Europe and South Asia have started coming to the Ganga plains due to which day and night temperatures have fallen and cold has started rising rapidly.
He said that the maximum temperature in Kanpur was recorded at 13.4 and the minimum temperature was 5.0 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity in the morning was 91 percent and the relative humidity in the afternoon was 70 percent. The direction of the winds was north-west with an average speed of 3.9 km per hour.
According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, there is no possibility of rain due to clear sky for the next five days. There are chances of dense fog in the morning and night. There is every possibility of cold wave also. Northwest cold winds will continue to blow into the Ganga plains. Due to this, there is every possibility of a chilled winter.
