Kanpur, August 08: Congress State President Ajay Kumar Lallu reached Kanpur on Sunday while going to Meerut. Here, while answering the questions of journalists, he said that Congress will not tie up with SP and BSP in the upcoming state assembly elections in 2022. Whenever the alliance was formed earlier, the party has to bear the brunt of it.

On changing the name of Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, Congress State President said that it will not reduce his honour. The people of the country cannot forget the sacrifice that the late Rajiv Gandhi has made for the country. If the government had to give an award after Major Dhyan Chand, then a new award could have been started.

He said that the manner in which our (Indian) players have performed in the Olympics is commendable. How serious the BJP is about sports and sportspersons can be gauged from the fact that the UP government has not paid salaries to the coaches for the last 8 months. These include those coaches who have been awarded the Dronacharya Award and have also participated in many competitions for the country.

Earlier, on reaching Ganga Barrage in Kanpur, Congressmen welcomed the state president. During this, Secretary, UP Congress Committee Vikas Awasthi, Rakesh Sachan and other party officials and workers were present.
