Mukhtar Ansari’s benami property worth Rs 1.25 cr seized

Ghazipur, 11 May: Former MLA and mafia Mukhtar Ansari’s benami property worth ?1.25 crore was confiscated. The Income Tax Department team that came to Ghazipur from Lucknow on Thursday took this action.

The properties were 0.117 hectares and 0.254 hectares in Kapurpur of the city in the name of Ganesh Dutt Mishra, a close aide of Mukhtar. Under the leadership of Income Tax Department officer Abhishek Sahay, the team had reached Ghazipur on Thursday morning.

With the cooperation of the local police-administration, the whole team reached at around 2 pm to attach the immovable property of Ganesh Dutt Mishra located in Kapurpur. With the affixing of notice there, the action of Munadi and confiscation started. During this, the police of Revenue Department, Jangipur and City Kotwali were present along with the team of Income Tax Department.

The action to attach benami properties of Mukhtar Ansari is going on continuously by the Income Tax Department. It is believed that till now the property worth about ?20 crore has been attached by the benami property unit of the Income Tax Department. Mukhtar’s benami property worth about ?125 crore has been identified by the Income Tax Department. The Lucknow team of Income Tax Department is active regarding this.
