Bhopal, 24 October: The state government has accepted the resignation of Chhatarpur district Deputy Collector Nisha Bangre. Following the instructions of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, the government had issued an order accepting his resignation late on Monday night, but its information was made public on Tuesday.

After this, the way has been cleared for her to contest the assembly polls. There is a possibility that Nisha Bagre may contest elections from Amla seat of Betul district from Congress ticket.

Actually, Nisha Bangre was posted as Deputy Collector in Chhatarpur district. About three months ago, she had resigned from her post due to not getting leave to attend the ‘Griha Pravesh’ (A Hindu ritual to enter in new house by chanting of vedic mantras) programme, but the government did not accept it.

After this she had announced that she wanted to contest elections on Congress ticket. Nisha wants to contest elections from Multai of Betul. After this, she started a march demanding acceptance of her resignation. Despite this, when her resignation was not accepted, she filed a suit in the Supreme Court and the High Court.

The Supreme Court had asked the Madhya Pradesh High Court to take a decision on the matter soon. At the same time, three days ago the High Court had ordered the government to accept the resignation of Nisha Bagre by October 23.

On Tuesday, Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha tweeted that the Madhya Pradesh government accepted the resignation letter of Nisha Bangre in compliance with the orders of the Supreme Court and the High Court.

“The departmental inquiry was also ended along with the censor. Now Nisha will have to think about her future path. Congress had declared its candidate Amala from Betul a day before. This is not the victory of any woman officer. This is the victory of women power,” he informed.

Actually, Congress had kept the announcement of candidate from Amla Assembly seat on hold, but as his resignation was not accepted, late on Monday night Congress declared Manoj Malve as its candidate from Amla seat. Manoj was made a candidate from this seat in 2018 also, but he lost the election to the BJP candidate.

With the resignation accepted, Nisha Bagre can now contest the assembly elections.
