Bhadohi, 21 February: The mortal remains of martyr soldier Dheeraj Kumar Gupta were brought home in an army vehicle on Saturday with full military honours from Nagrota in Jammu and Kashmir.
During this, thousands of people assembled to bid the soldier a final farewell. The entire sky echoed with the slogans of Amar Shaheed Dheeraj Gupta Zindabad.
The martyr’s father, Shyamsunder Gupta, has already passed away. Dheeraj’s wedding was scheduled for April 20, 2026.
Agniveer Dheeraj Kumar Gupta (26) of Bhadohi district of Uttar Pradesh was a resident of Jetpur village of Aurai. He was appointed under Agniveer in 2023. He was martyred in a night terrorist attack in Nagrota, Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday February 19. His mortal remains were brought from Jammu and Kashmir in a special vehicle. He will be cremated with full state honors at the Rampur Ganga Ghat on Saturday.
According to reports, Dheeraj Gupta was commissioned as an Agniveer in March 2023 and was posted on the India-Pakistan border. On Wednesday night, he was guarding the border with five other soldiers when terrorists opened fire from behind, resulting in his martyrdom. Upon receiving news of the arrival of the mortal remains, tricolor flags were hoisted on main roads.
In honor of the immortal martyr Dheeraj Gupta, Bhadohi MP Vinod Bind, District Magistrate Shailesh Kumar, Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik, and other dignitaries reached Jetpur village and offered a wreath. The atmosphere became very sad when the old mother offered the tricolor flag to martyr Dheeraj. People’s eyes became moist after seeing this scene and the slogan ‘Dheeraj Gupta Amar Rahe, Dheeraj Gupta Amar Rahe’ echoed in the sky. The mortal remains will be cremated at Rampur Ghat. All preparations have been completed by the district administration for this.
