Srinagar, Aug 17 : Mobile Phone services have started in Jammu and Kashmir from today while landline phones were up and running at Ramban, Kishtwar and Doda districts on Saturday morning. However, it may take time for Internet service to be restored in Kashmir.

Apart from Jammu, Internet services have been started in Samba, Kathua, Udhampur with 2G speed. Restrictions have also been relaxed in Rajouri region. In Rajouri, section 144 will be restricted from nine in the morning to five in the morning. The DM of Rajouri has also issued an order in this regard.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam said that not a single death was reported in the state despite efforts by Pakistan to destabilise the situation after the Centre’s decision to impose restrictions in the wake of scrapping of Article 370.

Subramanyam said that certain steps were taken by the Centre to ensure the safety of J&K residents, which included restrictions on free movement and snapping telecom connectivity, prevention of large gathering, closure of schools and colleges.
