Lucknow, February 12: The Samajwadi Party (SP) member Atul Pradhan raised the issue of AI under Rule 300 during the Zero Hour on the fourth day of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Budget Session on Thursday. The bench asked the government to take cognizance of the matter.

Atul Pradhan said, “AI is a dangerous technology. People from an agency came to me and said that they would play my speech in my own voice without my presence. The face would also be my own. Sir, if my face and my voice can reach people in a positive light, it can also be misused. I have complained to the SSP of my district regarding a matter related to me, but no cognizance has been taken of it.”

Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana urged the bench that the Parliamentary Affairs Minister would look into it. The Speaker stated that AI particularly impacts those working in the political field. Therefore, such complaints should be taken seriously, and strict action should be taken against certain individuals.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna responded by stating that the central government enacted a law on AI on February 10. Any action will be taken after discussions with legal experts. Earlier, State IT Minister Sunil Sharma presented the government’s position.
