Meerut: Love-Jihad accused Shamshad injured in police encounter, condition critical

Meerut, July 23: Shamshad, accused of ‘love-Jihad’, was injured in an encounter with police on Thursday morning in Meerut district, police said.

As per Meerut police, after escaping from custody on Wednesday, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Meerut had announced a bounty of Rs 25 thousand on his head in the night.

Along with this, the Meerut police ran a JCB machine at the accused’s house to collect evidence.

According to the police, Chanchal, a resident of Modinagar, lodged the missing report of her friend Priya and her daughter Kashish at Pratapur police station on July 14.

In fact, Priya, a divorcee, resident of Loni area, had been living in a live-in relationship with Muslim man Shamshad, a Bhudebral resident of Partapur, for the last five years.

 Meanwhile, Chanchal told that first the police drove her away to cover up the issue but after the uproar by some Hindu outfits over the missing of a her friend, SP City Akhilesh Narayan Singh instructed his officials for action.

“However, the police on Wednesday had digged the house of the accused Shamshad from where the skeletons of Priya and her daughter Kashish were found who were buried after being murdered by Muslim man. Both skeletons have been sent by the forensic team for further investigation,” Priya’s friend told.

Priya’s friend Chanchal alleged that Shamshad had hidden his religion and trapped her friend Priya in a love. Priya was living in a live-in relationship with the accused along with her daughter for the last five years. Not only this, the accused Shamshad had also grabbed her money by selling a flat of Priya in Kashiram Colony.

She further said that when Priya came to know about the accused’s original religion, the accused killed her friend Priya and daughter.

The police then took the accused into custody. Somehow, Shamshad escaped from police custody.

SSP Ajay Sahni announced a reward of Rs 25,000 on the accused on Wednesday night itself.

Accused injured in police encounter

The SSP said that the Pratapura police had an encounter with Shamshad near Noor Nagar turn in Brahmapuri police station area on Thursday morning. Shamshad opened fire on the police, however, in the counter-firing in which Shamshad was injured by four bullets in his leg. He is admitted to the hospital where his condition is to be serious.

According to doctors, if following the current condition, the leg, injured by bullets, of a miscreant may also be chopped off.

Police told that bike, country-made pistol, a large number of live cartridges and kiosks have been recovered from the crook.

Police demolished the house of love-jihad accused

The Meerut Police bulldozed on the accused’s house to gather evidence related to the murder of the mother-daughter.

The SSP said that the police is engaged in collecting the evidence in this case.
