Medical colleges in all 75 districts of UP in 6 months: Yogi

CM Yogi inspected Maharishi Deoraha Baba Medical College Deoria before the inauguration

From 1947 to 2016, there were only 12 state medical colleges in UP, 32 new ones were built in four and a half years.

Deoria, 24 July. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that in the next six months, all 75 districts of the state will have medical colleges. From 1947 to 2016, only 12 government medical colleges have been built in Uttar Pradesh, whereas between 2017 and 2021, 32 new government medical colleges have been built in just four and a half years.

So far 59 districts have been covered with medical colleges. With the help of the central government and the state government’s own resources, a chain of medical colleges is being set up in the state. In the remaining 16 districts like Maharajganj, Sant Kabirnagar, Mau, Ballia, medical colleges will be opened on PPP model with the support of the UP government and the central government.

This is possible due to the presence of like-minded government at the Centre and in the state. Nine new government medical colleges including Maharishi Devraha Baba Medical College, Deoria are ready in the state. After the inspection of the National Medical Council of India, as soon as the approval is received, they will be inaugurated in the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

CM Yogi was talking to the media persons after inspecting the Maharsh Deoraha Baba Medical College on Saturday. The Chief Minister said that five-seven years ago it could not have been imagined that Deoria would also have a medical college. We are grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who started the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana and we got to open a medical college in Deoria too.

He said that the cost of Medical College of Deoria is Rs 208 crore, out of which Rs 155 crore has been spent. All the construction work will be completed by December 15th. The process of appointment of faculty has been completed. Support staff is also adequate. Expressing satisfaction over the progress made so far during the inspection, the CM said that everything here is as per the guidelines of the Medical Council.

East Uttar Pradesh will get world class medical facilities

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the people of eastern Uttar Pradesh will get world class medical facilities. BRD Medical College was once the only major center of medical service in Purvanchal. Now there are medical colleges in Deoria, Basti, Siddharthnagar. Construction work has started in Kushinagar. AIIMS with world class medical facilities has also started serving in Gorakhpur. It will also be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October.

The Chief Minister said that during the crisis of Corona, this global epidemic was successfully controlled in Uttar Pradesh, the largest state in terms of population of the country. Medical colleges have played an important role in this. In the last 4 years, we have also effectively controlled encephalitis. Once Deoria was also among the most encephalitis affected districts, but now the deaths due to this have come down to 95%.
