Maujpur clash: petrol pump set on fire, six policemen including two DCPs injured by violent mob

New Delhi, 24 February: Protesters took the form of violence in Maujpur area in Delhi on Monday afternoon in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Citizenship Register (NRC).

While on one side, the protesters pelted stones at the policemen, on the other side a man opened fire here. Six policemen including two DCPs were injured in the incident.

However, police headquarters issued an order on Monday evening, saying that section 144 has been imposed in Yamunapar. Along with this, the order said that the media should also stay away from the said incident and do not make the photos related to the incident viral.

Actually, a protest against the CAA has been going on in Maujpur since Sunday. The same community is protesting against those opposing it CAA and NPR. The two sides clashed on Monday afternoon after which there was a lot of stone pelting from both the sides.

During this time, when the police tried to intervene, people also threw stones at the police. A video has also surfaced here, in which a young man can be seen firing.

6 policemen injured in stone pelting

According to police sources, more than a dozen people were injured in the stone pelting here. These include 6 policemen including Shahdara DCP Amit Sharma, DCP Ved Prakash Surya. These policemen have been admitted to the hospital for treatment, the condition of which is stated to be worrisome.

At present, a large number of police forces have been deployed to control the situation on the spot. With this, the Crime Branch team has also reached the spot. The police are trying to calm people down. CM Arvind Kejriwal has also tweeted about this.

Here anti-social elements have set many vehicles on fire including a petrol pump in Bhajanpura area. Not only this, the protesters also threw stones here. Police are trying to control the rioters.
