Maratha community will get reservation separately, not through OBC quota: Eknath Shinde

Mumbai, 29 September: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said on Friday that Maratha community will not be given reservation under OBC quota in the state. The state government is trying to provide separate reservation to the Maratha community.

A meeting of the delegation of OBC leaders with Chief Minister Shinde was held at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar were present in this meeting. During this time it was decided that reservation in OBC quota would not be given to Maratha community at any cost.

Earlier, reservation was given to Maratha community, but that reservation could not stand in the court.

The Chief Minister said that the role of the government was explained to the delegation of OBC community in the meeting. After this the doubt of the opposition has been cleared.

BJP leader Ashish Deshmukh told journalists that the government is positive towards reservation for OBC and Maratha community. The government will not give reservation to the Maratha community under OBC quota at any cost.

Maratha leader Manoj Jarange Patil should also think wisely, it is not possible to give reservation to the Maratha community through OBC quota. The government is positive to issue Kunbi certificates to those families who have Nizam era proofs, but general Kunbi certificates will not be given to all Maratha society.
