Man shot dead over old rivalry in Pratapgarh, accused held

Pratapgarh, December 1: A 39-year-old man was shot dead while shopping in the market in Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday evening, police said.

Police arrested the accused. The accused had committed the murder due to a personal rivalry.

The Superintendent of Police (SP) Deepak Bukhar inspected the scene of the crime. Theย 

SP said that Tashkeel (30), a resident of Udhranpur in the Lalganj police station area, worked as a truck driver in Delhi and worked in a travel agency. He had returned to his village a few days ago. On Monday, he went shopping in the Kamayanpur market on his bike to entertain relatives who had come home. At around 5 pm, the accused shot him in the market. Police arrived on the spot and rushed him to the trauma center in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead.ย 

SP further added that Aman Qureshi, a resident of Asanv in the Sangipur police station area, who was fleeing after the crime, was apprehended by people present in the market with the help of people present in the market. It was reported that the deceased and the accused were both employed at the same travel agency in Delhi, where they had an argument and a fight over something. This enmity led Aman to murder Taskeel.

The incident caused chaos in the market.ย 

Police sent the body for a post-mortem examination, arrested the accused, and recovered the pistol used in the murder. Further investigation is underway.
