Lucknow: Punjab National Bank manager arrested for receiving bribes

Lucknow, 1 Aug: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) detained a branch manager and a field officer from Punjab National Bank in Uttar Pradesh’s Bagpat on Tuesday for taking a bribe of โ‚น 25,000. Lalit Yadav, the branch manager, and Mukesh Meena, the field officer, were detained. On July 31, 2023, the FIR was issued.

According to the CBI, the complainant (name withheld) had a Kisan Credit Card account at Punjab National Bank, Khekra, Bagpat, in his name and in the name of his grandpa.

According to the complaint, a sum of โ‚น 4.95 lakh was sanctioned in the aforementioned KCC account and disbursed in the savings bank account.

The branch manager was also accused of putting a Rs 50,000 deposit in the same savings bank on hold. When the complainant questioned the branch manager and field officer about it, both requested an alleged payment of Rs 35,000 to release the money.

The payment was afterward lowered to Rs. 25,000. He afterward alerted the CBI about the situation. The authorities asked him to keep in touch with the suspects, and they were apprehended on Tuesday.
