Lucknow, September 30: Taking a major action on Tuesday, the Uttar Pradesh State Tax Department has suspended three Assistant Commissioners in the Input Tax Credit (ITC) scam of โน 21 crore.
According to the information received from the department, the officers who have been suspended include the then Assistant Commissioner Jitendra Kumar posted in Hapur, Abhay Patel and Assistant Commissioner Ajay Kumar of Gorakhpur.
According to the investigation report, these officers were operating bogus firms worth about Rs 19.5 crore through collusion and negligence. The informants have availed the benefit of ITC in an incorrect manner. This has caused a loss of crores to the department. After negligence was found in the investigation, these officers have been suspended with immediate effect.
