Lower House adjourned till Monday, Bill to raise marriage age of girls to come next week

New Delhi, 17th December: The proceedings of the Lok Sabha were on Friday adjourned till Monday due to uproar in the opposition demanding the resignation of Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra in the Lakhimpur Kheri case.

Before the Lok Sabha was adjourned, the House completed the process of Parliament’s approval by passing the amendments of the Rajya Sabha on the Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill, 2019. The Lok Sabha had passed the bill but the Rajya Sabha referred it to a select committee. Later the Rajya Sabha approved the amendment and sent it back to the Lok Sabha.

The National Anti-Doping Bill, 2021, the Wildlife (Protection) Amendment Bill, 2021, and the CA, Cost and Works Accountants and Company Secretary (Amendment) Bill, 2021 were introduced in the Lok Sabha.

There was constant uproar from the opposition side during the passage of the bill. After the bill was passed amid the uproar, Presiding Officer Rajendra Agarwal adjourned the proceedings till Monday. The proceedings of the Lok Sabha were earlier adjourned till 2 pm.

Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs in Lok Sabha also informed about the next week’s business.

He informed that the Prevention of Child Marriage (Amendment) Bill, 2021 and the Election Act (Amendment) Bill, 2021 will be introduced for passing after discussion.
