Low magnitude quake jolts off Russia’s Kamchatka

Moscow, May 27: Light shocks of the earthquake were registered in the Russian Kamchatka on Monday morning. Its intensity on the Richter scale was 4.9. While, the epicenter of the earthquake was in the depth of 115 kilometers in the north-west of  Boleschertsk village. It is noteworthy that there is no information about loss of any kind due to earthquake. According to the local branch of Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations, the earthquake was not felt throughout inhabited settlements on the peninsula.

Interestingly, Kamchatka is also home to the Shiveluch volcano, which is the northernmost active volcano on the peninsula.
