Lok Sabha polls 2024: Liquor, drugs, precious metals and cash worth crore seized, informs UP Electoral Chief

Lucknow, 05 April: State Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa said on Friday that enforcement agencies and flying squads are seizing illegal liquor, cash etc. in Uttar Pradesh. Till April 4, a total of liquor, drugs, precious metals, free gifts and cash etc. worth Rs 110.88 crore have been seized by the Excise, Income Tax, Police and Narcotics Department and other enforcement agencies from March 1 to April 4.

In the statement issued by the Chief Electoral Officer, he said that a total of liquor, drugs, precious metals, free gifts and cash etc. worth Rs 110.88 crore were seized by the Excise, Income Tax, Police and Narcotics Department and other enforcement agencies from March 1 to April 04, 2024.

In this, Rs 2,020.93 lakh in cash, 819492 liters of liquor worth Rs 2799.35 lakh, 7021713.63 grams of drugs worth Rs 4352.74 lakh, 39163.86 grams of precious metals worth Rs 1778.18 lakh and other materials worth Rs 137.27 lakh were seized.

A total of liquor, drugs and cash worth Rs 164.09 lakh were seized on April 04 by Excise, Income Tax, Police and Narcotics Department and other enforcement agencies. In this, Rs 16.24 lakh in cash, 21566.82 liters of liquor worth Rs 57.16 lakh, 103861.55 grams of drugs worth Rs 86.05 lakh and other material worth Rs 4.65 lakh were seized.

Major seizures on April 04 included 308 grams of drugs worth Rs 30.80 lakh in Behat assembly constituency of Saharanpur district, 51250 grams of drugs worth Rs 12.81 lakh in Iglas assembly constituency of Aligarh district and 51250 grams of drugs worth Rs 12.81 lakh in Manjhanpur assembly constituency of Kaushambi district. 41.55 grams of drug estimated to be worth Rs 10.39 lakh was seized. Apart from this, Rs 7.25 lakh in cash and other material worth Rs 4.50 lakh were seized in Khatauli assembly constituency of Muzaffarnagar district.
