Kanpur, 13 July: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) filed a case diary in court about the June 3 Kanpur incident. Last month, violent fights and stone-pelting occurred in Kanpur when a local organization asked for the closure of shops at the Parade Market, one of the city’s largest wholesale marketplaces, in response to suspended BJP politician Nupur Sharma’s statements regarding Prophet Muhammad.

Dinesh Agarwal, the public prosecutor, filed the case diary.

The rioters were paid to promote mayhem, according to the SIT probe. According to the case diary, stone-pelters were reportedly paid Rs 500-1,000, while those who used petrol bombs during the disturbances were allegedly paid Rs 5,000.

Furthermore, the SIT stated that the miscreants were promised free legal assistance if they were apprehended. The miscreants were also given seven to nine days of training for the commotion, according to the case diary. More than 60 persons have been detained as a result of the June 3 Kanpur violence.
