Kannauj: Student beaten to death by teachers in UP

Kannauj, 26 July: According to authorities, a 15-year-old student in Kannauj’s Madaiya village was reportedly kept in a room and beaten to death by three teachers who suspected him of stealing a watch.

Dilshan alias Raja, a Class IX student, died of his injuries in a Kanpur hospital on Tuesday, according to police.

According to his relatives, he was battered to death. The student’s body was admitted for an autopsy. Police are investigating, and if the assault with the student is proven, harsh punishment will be taken against the perpetrator in accordance with law according to Superintendent of Police Kunwar Anupam Singh.

Dilshan, a native of Paschim Madaiya village in the Kasava Chowki region of Chhibramau Kotwali, had applied for admission to RS Inter College, Ramlila Maidan, on July 23.

In his complaint, Dilshan’s father, Jahgir, said that a teacher, Shivkumar Yadav, had called him and accused him of stealing a watch. Following the allegations, he and his colleagues, Prabhakar and Vivek Yadav, reportedly confined the student in a room and viciously thrashed him.

The student was transferred to Kanpur after being hospitalised to a local hospital in critical condition and failing to improve, he died during treatment at hospital.
