JDU elects Nitish Kumar and BJP elects Samrat Chaudhary as legislative party leader

Patna, November 19: Amidst preparations for the formation of a new government in Bihar, the newly elected MLAs of the Janata Dal United (JDU) have re-elected the party’s national president Nitish Kumar as their leader. On Wednesday, a meeting of the JDU legislative party was held at the Chief Minister’s residence, in which Nitish Kumar was unanimously elected as the legislative party leader. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also unanimously elected Samrat Chaudhary as the legislative party leader.

All the JDU MLAs were present at the JDU meeting. During the meeting, the message came out loud and clear that the party has full confidence in Nitish Kumar’s experience and leadership. Senior JDU leaders stated after the meeting that the state needs stable leadership and that only under Nitish Kumar’s leadership can Bihar’s development progress rapidly. Nitish Kumar also indicated that he would use the change in power to Bihar’s advantage and present a new roadmap for development with new schemes and policies in the coming months.

Samrat Chaudhary was unanimously elected leader of the legislative party meeting held on Wednesday at the Atal Auditorium of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state office, in addition to the JDU. The meeting began at 11:30 a.m., with all 89 elected BJP MLAs present. BJP MLCs also attended.

Special security and order arrangements were made in the auditorium premises from the morning. First, the MLAs were welcomed with a traditional tilak (a sacred thread) and a rose. Afterward, their attendance was registered and they were allowed inside wearing identity cards. BJP leaders were constantly reconciling names to ensure that all elected representatives attended the meeting.

The meeting was chaired by BJP State President Dilip Jaiswal and Bihar BJP in-charge Vinod Tawde. Several central leaders were also present, making it clear that the party is serious about the form of the government to be formed in Bihar and its future course of action. The meeting has been witnessing intense political activity since morning.

Political activity related to the meeting will intensify in the evening.

Home Minister Amit Shah will hold a separate meeting with BJP leaders in the evening. It is believed that this meeting will discuss important outlines related to cabinet formation.

According to political experts, preliminary discussions on the distribution of ministerial posts and the allocation of portfolios are likely to take place in this meeting.
