Lucknow, September 26: An incident of theft of items worth 71 lakhs including ₹ 50000 from the house of an India Police Service (IPS) officer living in Vikasnagar area of ​​Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow came to light on Friday. The IPS officer Yamuna Prasad is currently posted as DCP of Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida). Police have registered a case and started investigation.Â
Station House Officer Alok Singh said that IPS officer Yamuna Prasad, posted in Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida), has a house in Vikasnagar, Lucknow. The house is looked after by his relative Asit Siddharth. In his complaint to the police, he told that the thieves entered the house by cutting the grill of the rear window. The thieves broke the cupboards and stole 50 thousand rupees in cash, 10 silver coins, two silver glasses and two bowls, three wrist watches, 20 bathroom taps and some other items.Â
The station chief stated that, according to Asit Siddhartha, when he arrived home on the evening of September 22, there was no electricity. The next day, on September 23, a team from the electricity department arrived based on the complaint. When the door was opened, items were scattered. Window grills were broken, cupboards were scattered, and the entire house was in disarray. Based on the caretaker’s complaint, a case of theft has been registered and CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined.
