Lucknow, May 01: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has expressed concern over the poor condition of workers due to the enforcement of lockdown in wake of coronavirus outbreak on International Workers’ Day.

She has appealed to the Central and State Governments to take cognizance of the case of private companies cutting the wages of employees to maintain their profits.

Mayawati tweeted on Friday that the workers and toiling classes celebrate International Workers’ Day as May Day every year. But, due to the unprecedented Corona crisis and the implementation of lockdown, their livelihood is in deep trouble. In such a situation, the role as the welfare government of the Centre and the state is very important.

She further added that this is why there is an appeal to the Central and State Governments to take meaningful steps in protecting the vital interests of crores of poor labourers and working families and also take note of the big private companies who are making arbitrary cuts in the salary of the employees to maintain their profits.

At the same time, Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav tweeted that-This year is a different kind of ‘Workers’ Day’ in the coronary. In many states of the country, workers are away from homes without work and money. Because of this, this year, this day is not an occasion to offer any congratulations or greetings, but workers can reach home safely with their loved ones, we can only wish this.”
