Lucknow, 12 September: The second phase of the ‘Intensified Mission Indradhanush 5.0’ campaign started from Monday to increase the immunity of pregnant women and protect children up to five years of age from 12 deadly diseases.

Under this, vaccination of pregnant women and children will be done in urban and rural areas of all the districts of the state. In the past years, there has been continuous improvement in the level of health facilities and vaccination in the state.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has appealed to all the departments of the state, NGOs, intellectuals, religious leaders and parents to make the ‘Intensified Mission Indradhanush 5.0’ campaign a success.

He has said that additional efforts are needed for 100% complete immunization of children. ‘Intensified Mission Indradhanush 5.0’ is being organized with the aim of immunizing children and women who are deprived of vaccination. Vaccination is completely safe, extremely effective and increases immunity in pregnant women and children, hence there is a need to adopt it.

The Chief Minister has also requested the public representatives to give it the form of a mass movement by their active participation in the campaign. Apart from this, an appeal has also been made by government departments, government and non-government organizations, voluntary organizations, intellectuals, religious leaders and youth to motivate parents and guardians for complete vaccination.

Will be protected from these 12 diseases

The ‘Intensified Mission Indradhanush 5.0’ campaign is being run in three phases. The first phase was completed from 7th to 12th August. The second phase will be run from 11 to 16 September and the third phase will be run from 9 to 14 October.

Through the campaign, pregnant women and children up to five years of age are protected against 12 different life-threatening diseases such as tuberculosis, mumps, tetanus, whooping cough, influenza, hepatitis B, measles, rubella, meningitis (Japanese encephalitis), pneumonia, polio and rota virus.

A target has been set to provide complete immunization against disease-borne diarrhea. Every child must be given all doses of all vaccines at the right time.

Keeping in mind the target of eradication of serious diseases like measles and rubella by December 2023, the Chief Minister has directed the officials to complete the vaccination in mission mode.
