Sambhal Sambhal, October 29: The Income Tax Department teams on Wednesday morning simultaneously raided four sugar mills of Goyal Group, including two in Sambhal, one each in Bijnor and Bareilly districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Officials checked the mills’ documents and other papers. The Income Tax officials’ action is underway. The mill management is accused of tax evasion.
The Income Tax Department on Wednesday morning simultaneously raided the Dhampur Sugar Mill in Rajpura, Sambhal district, Dhampur Bio Organics Limited in Asmoli, Dhampur Bio Organics Limited in Mirganj, Bareilly, and the Dhampur Sugar Mill in Bijnor. The operation, which began at around 7 am, involved over 100 officers and employees arriving at the mills in 60 vehicles. PAC personnel were deployed outside the premises. These four sugar mills belong to Gaurav Goyal. His Rampur and Kashipur units have been closed for a long time. The Dhampur Sugar Mill is said to be Asia’s largest sugar mill. It is believed that these raids were conducted on allegations of tax evasion.
Regarding this Income Tax Department action, Abhay Singh Yadav, Vice President of the Asmoli Unit, told reporters that the Income Tax Department has visited the mill. During the raid, the team is reviewing documents. The Income Tax team is carrying out its work, and we are fully cooperating with them. This is their routine process.
He explained that the workers are not going inside out of fear. I have explained to them that there is no need to be afraid. As soon as the team returns after completing its investigation, people will be sent back to work. Crushing operations will resume at this mill next week.
