Guwahati, March 23: Tausif Ali Farooqui, a final year biotechnology student at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT, Guwahati), Guwahati, has joined the terrorist organization ISIS. He disappeared after writing an open letter titled ‘An Open Letter’ on his LinkedIn profile.

In the letter, Farooqui cited Islam as the reason for his fundamentalist beliefs and abandoning Indian institutions and society. He has revealed his ‘Hijrat’ (migration) to ISIS-controlled territory and his intention to fight for the organisation. In the letter he has written that his journey on this route will start from Paan Bazaar in Guwahati.

In the letter, Farooqui has written about faith in Allah, disillusionment with secularism, breaking ties with ‘infidels’ and calling for Hijrat. In the letter, he justified his actions by explaining some verses of the Quran.

Today a lot of discussions are taking place in Guwahati regarding this issue. There are a lot of reactions regarding his quoting of Quran Sharif. Many people raised the question whether Quran Sharif inspires to become terrorists? Or are the hooligans trying to make ends meet by disturbing the society in the name of Islam? A citizen of Guwahati, on the condition of anonymity, said that by providing education facilities to such people in institutions like IIT, not only is the country’s wealth wasted, but it is like keeping a snake in one’s sleeve.

It may be noted that exactly 24 hours ago, two staunch ISIS terrorists were arrested by the Special Task Force of Assam Police on the India-Bangladesh border in Dhubri district.
