Gandhinagar/Ahmedabad, 12 September: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again surprised the country in selection of new Chief Minister of Gujarat.

In the meeting of the Legislative Party, the name of Bhupendra Patel has been approved as the new Chief Minister of Gujarat. After being elected the leader of the legislature party, Bhupendra Patel met Governor Acharya Devvrat and staked claim to form the government. Bhupendra Patel will take oath as the Chief Minister on Monday.

Several names including Nitin Patel and Mansukh Mandaviya were in the news after Vijay Rupani resigned as the chief minister yesterday. Preparations were going on in Kamalam to announce the name of the new Chief Minister, but no one knew that the name of Ghatlodia MLA Bhupendra Patel would be announced as the Chief Minister of Gujarat.

Bhupendra Patel was not ready to ask any question after the name was announced as the Chief Minister and that is why he replied in a typical manner and said that I do not know, this is not the way of the party.

In a press conference after Bhupendra Patel’s name was agreed in the legislature party meeting, Bhupendra said that I thank Narendra Modi, JP Nadda and Amit Shah. Thanks also to Gujarat BJP state president CR Patil and Vijaybhai’s team.

He said that Anandiben’s blessings were and will always be with him. Gujarat organization and government are trying to reach the last man of the state. We will re-plan the work that is left and work together with the organization to move forward in the best possible way. Bhupendra Patel also took blessings from former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Nitin Patel.

In another press conference, Gujarat BJP President CR Patil told that only Bhupendra Patel will take oath as Chief Minister on Monday. The other members of the cabinet will be discussed later and a decision will be taken.
