GIS visitors will get a taste of UP culture, customs

Lucknow, 9 Feb: The Uttar Pradesh government is working hard to make the UP Global Investors Summit (UPGIS), which begins on February 10, a spectacular event. The cultural extravaganza scheduled for the opening evening, in which several of the country’s greatest artists will play, is one of the event’s highlights, according to authorities here on Thursday.

Cultural events will take place in the Tent City, which has been created close to the arena for the occasion, beginning on February 9 and lasting until February 12. Cultural activities will also take place in various areas across the city, including the 1090 Crossing, the Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport, and the area near the chief minister’s home, among others. A complete list of performers has been finalised.

On the first day of the summit, February 10, a cultural program will begin at 6 p.m. on the main stage. Rakesh Chaurasia, a world-renowned Mumbai flautist, will begin his 55-minute concert. In addition, Bengaluru-based violinist Kumaresh Rajagopalan, tabla player Satyajit Talwar, ghatam player Ullur Giridhar Udappa, Mumbai-based drummer Gino Rahul Bux, Bengaluru-based percussionist Pramath Kiran, Bengaluru-based keyboardist Varun Pradeep, and Bengaluru-based guitarist K Bruthuva Bhushan Caleb will perform. Following that, Lucknow’s Akanksha Srivastava will perform Kathak dance. Hansraj Raghuvanshi, a bhajan singer from Chandigarh, would capture the crowd in 20 minutes with his devotional melodies. Vandana from Mathura will perform Phoolon Ki Holi in the final five minutes.

Aside from the summit, a series of events will take place in the Tent City beginning on February 9, and continuing every evening until February 12. Alka Thakur (flute) will perform a 45-minute version of Raga Raageshwari on February 9. Nitish Bharti (tabla) and Zeeshan Abbas (sarangi) will accompany her.

Furthermore, Bina Singh of Prayagraj will do folk dance, Misha Ratan of Lucknow will perform Kathak dance, and Sumishtha Mitra of Ayodhya will perform Ramayana’s ‘Kevat prasang’ via folk dance. On February 11, the performance will last one hour and twenty minutes. Shweta Verma and Aarti Shukla of Lucknow will portray Rudravatar via Kathak dance in this session.

Radha Prajapati of Jhansi will perform Bundelkhand’s Rai Nritya (folk dance). Nidhi Srivastava from Lucknow will present the dance drama ‘Raghuveera,’ Dr. Rashmi will deliver classical tunes, and Rajdhani Band will organise the longest program of 30 minutes.

A classical ensemble will be performed on February 12 by Dr. Manoj Mishra (Tabla), Shrikant Shukla (Dholak), Mohd. Siddiq (Nakkara), Sudhir Kumar (Mridangam), Zeeshan Abbas (Sarangi), Dinkar Dwivedi (Harmonium), Lalita Haloi (Tanpura), and Shashikant Pathak (Dholak) from Delhi. Kunjalata Mishra of Vrindavan-Mathura will perform Krishnam Nritya Vatika, while Mathura’s Manika Pal will showcase Mayur Dance and Lucknow’s Tanmay Mukherjee will play band fusion drumming.

At the 1090 crossing, Vindhyachal Azad (Faruwahi folk dance) of Gorakhpur, Ashok Tripathi (Natwari folk dance) of Amethi, and Nishu Tyagi (Badhawa folk dance) of Lucknow will perform. Ghazipur’s Jeevan Ram Dhobia will perform a traditional dance at Samta Mulak Crossing. Geetkrishna Sharma of Mathura (mayur dance) and Chhedi Yadav of Gorakhpur (Faruwahi folk dance) will perform at Lohia Park Crossing. Akhilesh Yadav of Mahoba (wall folk dance) and Manika Pal of Mathura (peacock dance) will perform at Janeshwar Mishra Park’s Gate No. 6. Performances will be place in Gomti Nagar Extension Bypass Road towards Ekana Stadium, Golf City near Lulu Mall, and Awadh Shilpgram.

In addition to the cultural programs, 600 drones will light up the whole Vrindavan Yojana location during the event to greet the participants. A gallery will be available for people to sit in while watching the drone display/lighting performance. The drone demonstration will be one of the centrepieces of the festivities planned for the summit.
