‘Ghar Wapsi’ of two Bangladeshi nationals

Agartala, 12 March: The extradition process of two Bangladeshi nationals was completed on Friday as a gesture of goodwill to relations with India, a few days before the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh’s independence.

Sameer Mazumdar and Shalintara Begum returned home from their Akhaura Integrated Check Post in Agartala with their families on Friday.

On this joyous occasion, the Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Agartala, Mohammed Zubayat Hussain thanked the Government of India and the Government of Tripura. Members of both families also thanked the government.

Meanwhile, 22 more Bangladeshi nationals are undergoing treatment at a mental hospital in Agartala. Preparations are being made to send them home as well.

On Friday, Sameer Mazumdar was rushed to take his younger brother Amir Mazumdar and Shalinatara Begum to his brother Joynal Abedin.

Amir Mazumdar said that eight years ago, his brother Sameer Mazumdar left the house without telling anyone. Since then his search was on. After a long time, I got information about my brother from the Indian Embassy in Bangladesh. After that, after completing all the legal formalities, today I am taking my elder brother home.

Similarly, Shalinatara Begum also went missing from her house. On Friday, his brother Joynal Abedin arrived to take him back to his country. He said that Shalinatara Begum went missing from the house 13 years ago. Even after a lot of searching, he could not be found. Now with the help of the Government of India and the Government of Bangladesh, I am taking it back home.

Both family members thanked and thanked the Government of India and the Government of Tripura.

On this occasion, the Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Agartala said that both were being treated in a modern psychiatric hospital. Now that he has become physically and mentally healthy, efforts have been made to send him back.

He said that it was not possible to know anything about how he came to Tripura. However, they forgot their way and came to Tripura, because, he was mentally ill.

He said that 22 more people are undergoing treatment at the hospital in Agartala. 12 of them are quite healthy. His citizenship is being investigated. If their citizenship check is completed, they will also be extradited.

He said that if the remaining 10 people recover, they too will be repatriated.
