For ‘killing Modi’ remark, MP Cong leader lands up in jail

Jabalpur, 13 December: Senior Congress leader and former minister Raja Pateria was sent to jail by a local court here for his statement regarding killing Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The MP police arrested Pateria from Damoh district on Tuesday morning, and produced him in the Additional Sessions Court of Powai Tehsil, where his bail application was rejected and sent to 14-days judicial custody.

Meanwhile, the Congress party also served him a notice considering his statement as objectionable. Pateria while addressing the party workers on Sunday gave a statement related to Modi’s murder in Powai assembly constituency of Panna district. The statement’s video went viral on social media on Monday, in which Pateria was seen telling the workers to be ready to kill Modi if the Constitution is to be saved.

Pawai police station of Panna had registered an FIR against him on the instructions of the state Home Minister Dr Narottam Mishra. Apart from this, an FIR was also lodged against him in Jabalpur.

The police of Panna district reached the former minister’s residence at Hata in Damoh district at 5:30 am on Tuesday.

Four SDOPs of Panna district including Powai Ajaygarh police station in-charge Hata SDOP Virendra Bahadur Singh, under the leadership of Panna’s Additional Superintendent of Police, informed the former minister about his arrest after reaching Hata’s residence. He was taken to the hospital in Powai, where his health examination was done. After this he was presented in the local court.

The state Congress has given him a notice, considering his statement objectionable and condemnable. He has been asked to reply to the notice in three days.
