Engineer couple dead following murder-suicide, says Gurugram police

Gurugram, September 28: An engineer couple working in an IT company in Gurugram, Haryana, committed suicide after a domestic dispute late Sunday night. Before dying, the husband sent a video to a friend, in which he mentioned the fight, said police.

Police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar said on Monday that the deceased have been identified as Ajay Kumar and Sweety Sharma. The bodies of both have been sent to the post-mortem house and the families have been informed.

He said that Ajay Kumar, a resident of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, and Sweety, a resident of Asansol, West Bengal, were engineers in a company in Gurugram. They had an arranged marriage three years ago. Sweety was working from home. They had been living on the 13th floor of Tower No. 7 in Millennium City Society, Sector 37, for about two years. Late Sunday night, a fight broke out between the two. In the altercation, Ajay strangled Sweety to death with her scarf. He then committed suicide. Before committing suicide, Ajay sent a video to a friend. In the video, his friend Ajay was discussing suicide. This video arrived around 5 p.m. The video appeared to suggest a fight between the husband and wife.

He further apprised that upon seeing the video, his friend informed the police. Sector-10 police immediately reached Millennium City Society in Sector-37. Upon opening the flat, they found the couple hanging from a noose. The police team arrived at Millennium City Society in Sector-37. The bodies were found hanging inside the flat. The deceased were identified as Ajay Kumar and Sweety Sharma. The police removed the bodies from the noose and conducted an investigation. The bodies were then placed in the mortuary of the Civil Hospital. Their families have been informed of the incident.
