Delhi Police nabs man from Bihar in Rashmika Mandanna deepfake video case

New Delhi, 15 November: There is a new twist in Rashmika Mandanna’s deepfake video case. Delhi Police is interrogating a 19-year-old youth from Bihar in this case.

According to Delhi Police, the youth first uploaded the video on his social media platform and later shared it widely on other platforms. However, no arrest has been made in the case so far.

Police suspect that the youth first uploaded the video on his social media. It was then widely shared on other platforms. The youth was asked to appear before the IFSO unit and bring his mobile phone. Regarding this he had claimed that it was used to upload videos.

Soon after filing the FIR, the IFSO unit also wrote to META to obtain the URL and other details to identify the accused. The police will take any action on this matter only after interrogating the youth and taking all other information.

The case was registered under sections 465 (punishment for forgery) and 469 (forgery with intent to defame) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 66C and 66E of the Information Technology Act in Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations by the Special Cell unit of Delhi Police on November 10. After the video went viral, many film stars including Rashmika Mandanna raised questions on it and said that legal action should be taken against those who do this.
