Day-1 Covid vaccination: Over 1,65,714 inoculated on first day of vaccination drive in India

New Delhi, 16 January: On Saturday, more than one lakh 65 thousand people were vaccinated against coronavirus disease till 5 pm on the first day of the nationwide vaccination campaign.

According to the Union Health Ministry, the vaccination campaign has been successful on Saturday at a total of 3351 centers across the country. A total of 1, 65,714 people received the first shot of coronavirus vaccine. In addition 2182 military personnel have been vaccinated in the country.

According to the ministry, Bharat Biotech’s ‘Covaxin’ vaccine has been sent to 12 states, while the Serum institute of India (SII) vaccine ‘Covishield’ has been sent to all states.

According to the ministry, there were no incidents of adverse effects from any center. Apart from this, the vaccination drive was a bit difficult due to late arrival of beneficiaries list on Cowin app in some places on the first day. In some places, those people who were not named in the Cowin app were also vaccinated at some places. In such a situation, those states have been asked to include the names of the beneficiaries in the app.

Most beneficiaries were vaccinated in Andhra Pradesh

The first day of the vaccination campaign was successful in all the states in the country. In Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, the number of vaccinated people was more than 15 thousand. A total of 16,963 beneficiaries were vaccinated out of a total of 332 centers in Andhra Pradesh. 16,402 beneficiaries were vaccinated in Bihar.

In Uttar Pradesh, 15,975 beneficiaries got vaccinated. In Uttarakhand, 2,226 health care workers were vaccinated, which is 70 percent of the target.
