Crime (UP): Muslim woman kicked out of her in-laws house for voting for BJP

New Delhi, March 21: A Muslim woman has been allegedly thrown out of her house by relatives for voting for the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

The husband is now threatening to divorce the woman. Taking cognizance of this incident, the National Commission for Women has issued a notice to the Director General of Police (DGP), Uttar Pradesh.

The commission has issued instructions to take strict action against the woman’s husband and his relatives. In this case, the commission has also ordered registration of an FIR against the husband and relatives and has sought a reply in seven days.

It is noteworthy that a Muslim woman in Bareilly has alleged that she was thrown out of the house just because she had voted for the BJP in the elections. The woman says that she is also being threatened with triple talaq. He got married about a year ago. The victim has been identified as Uzma. She is a resident of Jagatpur under Baradari police station area of โ€‹โ€‹the city.
