Crime: Three women sold and raped many times, NCW seeks report from UP DGP

New Delhi, June 07: The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken cognizance of the case of allegedly raping and selling of three women who were migrating along with labourers across the Uttar Pradesh- Rajasthan border.

In this regard, the Commission has written a letter to the Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttar Pradesh asking him to take action against the culprits and submit a report.

NCW Chairman Rekha Sharma condemned the incident and demanded strict action against the culprits.

She said that this incident should be investigated thoroughly and women who were raped should get justice.

The three women hailing from Hazaribagh (Bihar) were walking on foot from the border of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan with migrant labourers for three days.

According to the commission, the women also hid themselves in the jungle for few hours to elude culprits. Meanwhile, the three women were allegedly sold several times and raped.
