Cricket World Cup: Pro-Palestinian-cum-Virat Kohli fan disrupts the match, arrested

Ahmedabad, 19 November: A Palestine supporter wearing ‘Stop bombing Palestine’, ‘Free Palestine’ printed t-shirt reached the pitch to hug Indian cricketer Virat Kohli.

Later, a person was caught by the security forces and handed over to Chandkheda police of Ahmedabad.

It was told that the young man was supporting Palestine and had slogans like Stop Bombing Palestine and Release Palestine written on his T-shirt.

Police investigation revealed that the young man who reached the pitch is an Australian citizen. Its name is said to be Wayne Johnson. The young man was also wearing a mask with the Palestine flag. The security personnel present at the stadium caught him.

Preliminary information also revealed that he is a fan of Virat Kohli and that is why he tried to go near Virat and to embrace him.

Meanwhile, questions are also being raised about the young man breaking the three-tier security system to reach the pitch. In the presence of Crime Branch officials, a man jumped over the railing and reached the pitch when Indian side was batting. Viral Kohli and K.L. Rahul was at the pitch during 14th over of the match.

It is worth mentioning that there were 6 thousand police personnel present around the stadium and about 10 thousand policemen including outside. Despite all this, the young man jumped into the cricket ground and reached the pitch.
