Coronavirus infection among elderly people on the rise in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, 23 November: So far, 2,067 new cases of highly transmissible disease Covid-19 have been reported in the state in the last twenty four hours.

Meanwhile, 2,060 patients have recovered after being cured at various hospitals and home isolation.

On the other hand, Covid-19 recovery rate in the state is 94.07 percent and the death rate, ie, the case facility rate (CFR) has now come to 1.43 percent.

Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Medical and Health Amit Mohan Prasad said on Monday that there are currently 23,776 active cases of corona. The positivity rate in November is 1.6 percent. Despite being a populous state, Uttar Pradesh has always managed to keep it below 5.0 percent.

He said that a total of 1, 45,704 samples were examined in one day yesterday. Yesterday, 56,000 samples were sent to various laboratories for the RTPCR test taking the total of test to 1, 81, 31, 693 in the state. A total of 4, 97,475 Covid-19 have been fully cured. Since the beginning of the infection in March, 7,582 people have died from deadly virus.

โ€œThere are currently 10,948 people in home isolation. At the same time, 2,405 people are undergoing treatment in private hospitals. Apart from this, the remaining patients are admitted in government hospitals of L-1, L-2 and L-3,โ€ Prasad added.

Additional Chief Secretary, Medical and Health apprised further that 14,30,08,722 people from 2,92,22,272 households have been surveyed through 4,61,965 team days in 1,61,841 areas through surveillance team in the state. There are good examples of community surveillance from many districts. Among them, the Village Monitoring Committee, Mohalla Monitoring Committee and NGOs in many places have also done very well.

โ€œThe NGO has set up its volunteers for this task. Especially in homes where a person is infected and the rest of the members are in home isolation. In such a situation, many voluntary organizations have played a good role to make them easily available,โ€ he told.

Additional Chief Secretary, Medical and Health confirmed that there is a continuous increase in infection among the elderly in the state. In elderly people above 60, the infection has reached 10.13 percent. It was 8.0 percent two-three months ago. On the other hand, if we talk about deaths after infection, then 45 percent of people above 60 years of age were in it. Therefore it is extremely important to keep the entire elderly safe.
