Bahraich, March 31: The UP Special Task Force (STF) has arrested Maulana Abdul Salim from Bihar for using abusive language for Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s mother. The Kotwali police of Bahraich district took further action against the accused and sent him to jail.
The Devipatan Division IG Amit Pathak said on Tuesday that a video had recently gone viral on social media. In this video, Maulana Abdul Salim Chaturvedi, a resident of Araria district in Bihar, made derogatory remarks about Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. A case was registered in this regard in Balrampur and Bahraich districts. The Gorakhpur team of the UP STF unit arrested the accused Maulana from Bihar and brought him to Bahraich for questioning. After legal action, he was sent to jail.
In this regard, Akhtarul Iman, AIMIM MLA from the Amroha Assembly constituency in Bihar, stated that the UP Special Task Force (STF) arrested the cleric from Purnia, Bihar, on Monday. VHP Legal Cell District President AP Singh filed a case against the cleric at the Bahraich City Police Station on March 8.
The district president alleged that the cleric had used abusive language against Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s mother during Ramadan. The cleric’s intention was to create division in society, incite riots, and disrupt law and order. After the video went viral, various Hindu organizations demanded action against the cleric.
The accused, Abdul Salim Qasmi, stated, “I admit that I attended an event held in a slum in Bhagalpur district on May 5, 2024. During the speech, I used some abusive words against the mother of the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, which should not have been said. I apologize with folded hands for this mistake and promise not to repeat it again.” I want to send a message to the people: don’t say anything in your speeches that could harm any religion. I also apologize to the Chief Minister.
